Oklahoma State football: Cowboys embrace heat in preparation for nonconference schedule

STILLWATER — The high temperature Thursday outside the Sherman E. Smith Training Center was 101-degrees with 42-percent humidity, according to the National Weather Service.

Even in the shade of the indoor facility, the conditions were palpable as players practiced in full pads.

“I liked that the humidity and temperature was up,” Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. “It allowed us to work out for three hours and really open the guys up.”

Preparation that will be crucial for the Cowboys' nonconference schedule. Each game will be played in the Stillwater heat with unfriendly kickoff times for extended sunshine — 2:30 p.
