Oklahoma State defense falls flat in 42-20 loss to Kansas State

After last week's loss to Utah, Mike Gundy and the rest of the No. 23 Oklahoma State football team sang the praises of its defense.

Despite the fact Utah generated more than 400 yards of total offense with a backup quarterback and saw its running back Micah Bernard set a new career high for rushing yards, most felt the defense played relatively well. After all, 42 minutes is a lot of time to spend on the field.

A week later, the Cowboys' defense, which most felt had finally turned a corner and gotten a hold of the 3-3-5 defense, stayed in Stillwater.
