One of the best high school distance runners in state history will continue his career at Oklahoma State.
Mustang senior Gabe Simonsen announced Saturday his commitment to the Cowboys.
Simonsen immediately made an impact when he began running at Mustang and received plenty of accolades over the years.
After placing sixth at the Class 6A cross country state meet as a freshman, he won three consecutive titles.
His last came in November at Edmond Santa Fe when he completed the 5-kilometer race in 15:31.79, nearly 18 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
He also helped Mustang win the team championship and became the third boy in state history to win three individual titles in the largest classification.
