Oklahoma baseball coach Pete Hughes said he thought pitching depth gave his club a chance to make a deep run in the Big 12 Tournament.
That theory will be tested and stressed now, after Wednesday’s 7-3 loss to Kansas State pushes the Sooners into the loser’s bracket, needing four straight wins to claim the tournament title.
“The one strength our program has that should come through in a tournament setting is the depth of our pitching,” Hughes said. “I would rather have seen that on championship Sunday.
“Now we’re going to have to see that play to our advantage through the losers’ bracket.
