Receiver Marcell Ateman prepares to make a catch. Oklahoma State defeated Iowa State 35-31 on Saturday.
The defense was walked over in the first half, allowing Iowa State to gain 9.6 yards per play and score 24 points. But in the second half, the Cyclones gained just 104 total yards and scored once.
“It’s a disturbing pattern, first half on the road,” defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer said. “That’s what happens in the first half when you get a team like them that’s good enough. We’re a step behind and eyes aren’t right and I’m a call behind.
