TULSA— The Oklahoma State wrestling team was almost flawless in the first session of the Big 12 Wrestling Championships on Saturday.
The No. 5 Cowboys sent nine of their 10 wrestlers to Saturday evening’s semifinal matches, which start at 5 p.m. in BOK Center. The performance gave OSU an early lead in the team standings with 60 1/2 points, as the Cowboys are after their sixth consecutive conference title. The next closest contender is South Dakota State with 43 points.
The first session included the preliminary and quarterfinal rounds.
“I thought we’d have that kind of round, where it was hard,” OSU coach John Smith said.
