NFL Draft: Oklahoma State defensive end Jimmy Bean recovers from ACL tear with professional future ahead

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy calls former defensive end Jimmy Bean a “late bloomer” and it's actually the highest of compliments.

“I always liked the way he improved over the last two to three years,” Gundy said, “and developed his body.”

The numbers back it up. Bean increased his total tackles every year over his first three seasons. The 2015 season was his best statistical performance yet with 101/2 tackles for loss and 51/2 sacks through eight games before a season-ending ACL tear at Texas Tech.

Bean arrived in Stillwater 6-foot-5 and about 218 pounds.
