College athletes who participated in a spring sport this season will get another year of eligibility.
The NCAA Division I Council has approved a blanket waiver for all spring-sport athletes to gain an extra year of eligibility after their seasons were cut short more than two weeks ago by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Council’s decision gives individual schools the flexibility to make decisions at a campus level,” council chair and Pennsylvania athletic director M. Grace Calhoun said in a release.
“The Board of Governors encouraged conferences and schools to take action in the best interest of student-athletes and their communities, and now schools have the opportunity to do that.
