NCAA golf journal: OSU freshman Matthew Wolff shows courage beyond his years in final match

STILLWATER — The gap was about a foot wide.

Matthew Wolff's shot sailed to the left of the sixth green and he didn't have much room to work with. His ball was embedded in the thick rough and he had five trees scattered in front of him.

When Wolff, a freshman on the Oklahoma State golf team, and coach Alan Bratton came to the ball and surveyed his next shot, Bratton had a challenge for him.

Wolff quickly responded, and after a consultation, the shot squirted between the foot gap in the furthest trees on the right and toward the cup.
