NCAA baseball: UConn cruises past Harvard 10-2 in regional elimination game

The lightning disrupted the Harvard baseball team’s pitching plan against UConn’s steady offense.

The Huskies throttled the Crimson 10-2 in NCAA regional play Saturday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark after a pregame weather delay that lasted three hours and nine minutes. Harvard, the No. 4 seed, became the first team ousted from the regional. Second-seeded UConn will play at noon Sunday against the loser of Oklahoma State and Nebraska’s game.

Harvard coach Bill Decker said Buddy Hayward was scheduled to start and fully warmed up. Hayward recently had shoulder tenderness, so he was unable to return following the delay.
