STILLWATER — Kaden Polcovich’s dream is one step closer to reality.
Polcovich, a Deer Creek High School graduate who starred at Oklahoma State this spring, was drafted in the third round at No. 78 overall by the Seattle Mariners on Thursday.
Polcovich is expected to sign with the Mariners instead of returning to Stillwater. The draft bonus for the 78th pick is $793,000.
“If I was picked in the five rounds, then definitely for sure,” Polcovich told The Oklahoman last week when asked if he would sign a pro contract.
A 5-foot-8, 180-pound switch hitter, Polcovich was a star shortstop at Deer Creek.
