STILLWATER — Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy found himself gathered around college football’s best last week while at the College Football Award in Atlanta. But it’s possible no one he met impressed him more than Tyler Trent.
Trent, the Purdue super fan battling cancer whose story was heavily publicized before the Boilermakers’ 49-20 upset of then-No. 6 Ohio State, met Gundy backstage during the event.
“I told him that I’m gonna send him a package of a bunch of Oklahoma State stuff,” Gundy said Friday, “and I expected him to wear our stuff and root for Oklahoma State when he wasn’t rooting for Purdue, and he said he would, so I’m gonna hold him to that.
