Last season at LSU, Brock Mathis played in 48 games and recorded three home runs.
In only his 10th game at Oklahoma State, Mathis tied his home run total from last year after hitting two in the Cowboys’ 22-4 win against Saint Louis on Tuesday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys (12-5) already led 1-0 when Mathis stepped up the plate for his first at-bat. On the 0-1 pitch, Mathis knocked the ball to left field and it sailed over the wall. However, Mathis did get a little help from some strong northerly winds.
“Once you get the ball almost above the lights it’s like the ball has two engines on it and it just takes off,” Mathis said.
