Markel Brown to be a free agent

Brown, who was a guard for the Cowboys from 2010 to 2014, was drafted by the Nets in the second round of the 2014 draft. Brown played 62 games last season in Brooklyn, averaging 15 minutes and 5.9 points per game.

The Nets are trying to sign Tyler Johnson from Miami while Brown will be looking for a new home.

The Celtics' Marcus Smart and Grizzlies' Tony Allen are the lone former Cowboys on NBA rosters as James Anderson recently signed a deal to play in Turkey. Le'Bryan Nash will be playing in the Milwaukee Bucks summer league and Michael Cobbins is a member of the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder's D-League affiliate.
