Rarely go good signs come this deep into a losing season.
Oklahoma State, however, might have found one in freshman quarterback Maealiuaki Smith.
Smith, despite a 56-38 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon at Boone Pickens Stadium, completed 26-of-36 passing for 326 yards and two touchdowns in addition to one rushing score. He threw an interception on the Cowboys’ final offensive drive, but head coach Mike Gundy said he doesn’t believe Smith’s lone turnover should put a damper on his overall outing.
“Last game, or the game before, we didn’t get any big plays — but we got some big plays today,” Gundy said.
