A year ago, injury prevented Ben Leeper from making one appearance on the pitcher’s mound.
On Tuesday, a healthy Leeper started for the Oklahoma State baseball team and threw for four innings.
The Cowboys fell 10-7 to Wichita State at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. Although the Shockers made a late comeback against losing pitcher Reza Aleaziz (2-1), they had no answer to Leeper’s powerful sliders when the game started.
Leeper, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Southlake, Texas, stepped on the mound with an 18.90 ERA.
But in the first inning against No. 20 WSU, he allowed no runners on base and struck out three batters, two swinging and one looking.
