A common theme this basketball season has been the possible end of Kansas’ reign of terror in the Big 12. The Jayhawks amazingly have won 13 straight conference championships.
That ties UCLA’s streak of (then) Pac-8 titles.
But KU’s domination appeared in jeopardy this season. Relative rebuilding season for Kansas. A loaded Big 12 that currently includes four top-10 teams in the AP poll. And a Jan. 3 home loss, 85-73, to Texas Tech.
Hard to believe, but the Jayhawks actually fell off the radar to some degree. Heck, even last Saturday, when the Jayhawks were scratching and clawing at Allen Fieldhouse just to survive Kansas State 73-72, Kansas seemed an unlikely Big 12 champ.
