Justin Gilbert Reportedly Suspended by NFL One Year for Substance Abuse Violation

Former Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert has been suspended from the NFL by league commissioner Roger Goodell for a full year for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Gilbert, who was the eight overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014, was most recently with the Pittsburgh Steelers organization after the Browns traded him in exchange for a 2018 sixth-rounder—but the team cut him in February.

The one-year suspension comes just one month after he received a four-game suspension from the NFL for testing positive for substance abuse.
