TULSA — Jordan Williams had a strong feeling he clinched the upset win.
The Oklahoma State 149-pounder needed to execute for the final minute of his semifinal match of the Big 12 Wrestling Championships against top-ranked Casey Swiderski of Iowa State.
Williams released his opponent from a takedown grasp; the match clock read less than one minute. 7-2 Williams. The seconds winded toward an appearance in his first Big 12 title match. The feeling of what could be grew in his mind.
Until adversity struck.
A shifty Swiderski takedown made it 7-5. Williams’ escape made it 8-5.
