AUSTIN, Texas — Texas coach Charlie Strong announced Saturday that offensive line coach Joe Wickline, a former Oklahoma State assistant, and former offensive coordinator Shawn Watson have been fired.
Both were been demoted from their play-calling duties after the first game of the Longhorns' 5-7 season.
Wickline, OSU's offensive line coach from 2005 to 2013, currently has an unsettled lawsuit against him filed by OSU over a year ago.
Wickline accepted a co-offensive coordinator position at Texas in 2014 with two years left on his OSU contract, which stated he must pay his remaining salary, $593,478, unless he left for a coaching position in the NFL or as a college offensive coordinator with “play-calling duties.
