Even Jim Knowles knows Bankroll Fresh died too soon.
The Atlanta-based rapper who was fatally shot March 4, 2016 still lives on during Oklahoma State’s defensive gatherings. The first time Darrion Daniels walked into one of Knowles’ meetings, he was surprised to hear Bankroll Fresh blaring through the speakers.
“Hold on,” Daniels said. “Coach knows about Bankroll Fresh?”
“He died too young,” Knowles said. “He died too young.”
Knowles, OSU’s new defensive coordinator, is beginning to gel with his players as the Cowboys’ Spring Game nears. And though the next meeting featured 80s rock instead of rap, Daniels said the new coordinator’s meetings remain energized regardless of what type of music is playing.
