The Boone Pickens Stadium crowd reached its breaking point.
Midway through the third quarter of Oklahoma State’s Week 4 contest against Utah – an eventual 22-19 loss for the Cowboys – OSU fans erupted in a frenzy of boos.
But the cries of disdain weren’t generalized. They were targeted at quarterback Alan Bowman.
By halftime, Bowman had completed just 8-of-22 passing. As his incompletion total rose, the home crowd grew wearier.
Such is the life of a Division I college quarterback. Reaping rewards after success. Yet, suffering through the embellished, overblown anguish in failure.
Bowman was benched in favor of backup Garrett Rangel.
