Oklahoma State has made a swift surge back to the top of college wrestling less than halfway through the season.
The No. 3 Cowboys look the part. Dominant wins against ranked foes such as Oregon State, Arizona State, Oklahoma and top-10 Virginia Tech have come with relative ease, resulting in a 6-0 start. But the crux of OSU’s early-season eruption extends beyond sheer talent.
A lot of it can be tied to first-year head coach David Taylor’s philosophy – scoring points in bunches; dominating the opponent by all means and finding different ways to win matches.
“The coaches here just implement it every day – just find a way to get to the legs and score,” Cowboys’ 125-pounder Troy Spratley said.
