Ron Ateman marked spots in the garage of where his son had grown. Every time Ron measured, he marked the day and the month, each mark slightly higher than the last.
The marks started in 2004, pencil lead transitioning to a green marker and black ink as years passed and Marcell Ateman grew. As he developed, he didn’t realize how much football would become a focal point in his life.
“His youth coach, Tony Moore, told me he was going to have a pigskin in his hand for the rest of his life,” Ron said.
