Last season featured an awry ending for the Oklahoma State wrestling team.
Despite finishing the regular season with a 14-1 dual record and the program’s 51st Big 12 conference title, a loss in the NWCA Dual Finals to No. 2 Penn State in front of a record crowd at Gallagher-Iba Arena and a third-place finish at the NCAA tournament capped the Cowboys’ season.
Although the team finish was underwhelming by OSU standards, then-redshirt junior Dean Heil shined for the Cowboys with a perfect 32-0 record and a 15-0 dual mark that led to his second consecutive national title and the 142nd individual title in program history.
