Two weeks after uproar from players and students over a shirt worn by coach Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis has released his statement following a review of the program.
The review was spearheaded by athletic director Mike Holder and deputy athletic director Chad Weiberg. Hargis released the statement on his Twitter account citing a lack of personal relationships as the issue.
“The underlying issue was a lack of personal relationships between head coach and players rather than anything racial,” Hargis said in a Twitter statement.
Hargis said that both Holder and Gundy have committed to taking the appropriate steps to fix the relationships with players.
