Despite a strong performance by the Cowboy defense against Southeastern Louisiana, defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer sees lots of room for improvement out of his group after watching the film from the game. Citing missed tackles, bad reads, and some relaxation, Coach Spencer stressed the need to constantly improve in his press conference from Monday.
“Yeah, it’s good to analyze it,” said Spencer. “There’s an old adage that things are never as good as they seem and they’re never as bad as they seem, so between some missed tackles we had in the open field, some bad reads and some guys relaxing a couple of times, it was very close to getting those guys to realize how close we are to being very average, or how close we are to having a good defense.
