Daton Fix somersaulted on the chevron striped mat and transitioned into a vertical leap — levitating for a few seconds.
Fix has accomplished this routine hundreds of times, but today was different.
Wrestling in his first domestic bout since the 2019 national final, Fix did what he does best — win.
The Sand Springs native demolished his opponents en route to a Cowboy Challenge title. He scored a reversal and then arched backward and pinned West Virginia’s Ryan Sullivan in the third period.
“It was huge for me,” Fix said. “It was something I’ve been looking forward to.
