ARLINGTON, Texas – As questions loomed regarding Oklahoma State’s starting pitching rotation in the offseason, the answer became clear.
That is for OSU’s coaching staff. Sam Garcia, a southpaw veteran and former transfer from High Point. Uncertainty followed. Not because of the graduate transfer’s arm talent but rather his numbers from a season ago.
A prolific 2022 campaign saw Garcia log a 1.94 ERA and .213 opposing batting average during his first season as a starter for High Point. Year 2 was different. Injuries and inconsistencies on the mound translated to an 8.31 ERA. If he struggled like that against Big South competition, how could he manage Big 12 competition?
