Heaney, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft and 2012 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, will miss the remainder of the 2016 season and is expected to miss the 2017 season, as well.
In his lone start this season, the left-hander allowed four runs in six innings, striking out seven. Heaney is 6-8 with a 4.09 ERA in his three-year career with the Angels and Marlins.
