Former Oklahoma State pitcher Andrew Heaney is the Los Angeles Angels' nominee for the 2018 Roberto Clemente Award, awarded annually for a player's humanitarian and community efforts.
Heaney was also up to the honor, named for Baseball Hall of Fame member and noted humanitarian Roberto Clemente, in 2016. A left-hander out of Putnam City High School, Heaney earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Year with the Cowboys in 2012.
Heaney, the ninth overall pick in the 2012 draft, is 15-18 with a 4.29 ERA in his MLB career. Thus far in 2018, he has set career highs in wins (8), innings (152) and strikeouts (144).
