Former Oklahoma State basketball standout Brian Montonati has been tabbed as the new head coach at Owasso High School, it was announced on Monday.
Montonati averaged 7.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in his three-year career at OSU from 1997-2000—numbers that paled in comparison to his 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game average in his monster senior season. He was the dominant power forward presence for Eddie Sutton’s great 2000 team that charged to the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Florida.
Montonati has served as an assistant coach for the Owasso boys basketball team for six seasons and says he’s excited about his new opportunity to run the show.
