Freshman soccer players are like old, rusty lawnmowers. Not many of them start, but if they do, it shows they are built well.
As the Cowgirls enter the latter half of their season, it has become apparent that freshman OSU midfielder Grace Dennis and freshman defender Kionna Simon have accomplished something very difficult to do — carve out a starting role as a freshman.
Although beating out returning players who have had more time in the program, weight room and training facility is difficult in and of itself, the two freshmen who have cracked OSU’s starting lineup have had another obstacle in their path.
