Jawun Evans threw his first-half performance out of the window like he threw the Sooners out of the gym.
As has become a season tradition, when it seemed as if the game was slipping away, Evans took over in the waning moments, guiding the Cowboy basketball team to a 96-92 victory against Oklahoma on Saturday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The sophomore point guard shot only 2-for-8 in the first half, struggling to find space with Sooners (9-17 overall, 3-11 Big 12) clogging every lane. Then, late in the second half, something clicked.
"I feel like I became more aggressive in the second half,” Evans said.
