After Jawun Evans went down with an injury to his right shoulder in Oklahoma State’s 64-59 loss to Texas Tech on Feb. 3, the freshman has not returned to the court. In Evans’ absence, sophomore Tyree Griffin has had to step in to a key leadership role, guiding the team at the point guard position.
Griffin and the Cowboys (11-13 overall, 2-9 Big 12) will face Kansas State at 12 p.m. Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
“I really am (enjoying it), playing a lot of minutes and being a leader,” Griffin said. “That’s something that I always wanted to do, so I just have to step up and show people that I can do it now.
