The Eddie Sutton documentary – “EDDIE: The Costs of Greatness” – debuted Monday night on ESPN. I was fortunate on two fronts:
1. Filmmaker Christopher Hunt included me in the movie; I was the OSU basketball beat writer from December 1991 through October 1997 and covered almost all of Sutton’s biggest games during his final 15 seasons in Stillwater.
2. I received an advance screening of the film in March and wrote about it. That was just before the announcement that Sutton had finally been voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Sutton died in May.
In case you missed it, or if you want to compare what I wrote to what you’ve seen or soon will see, here is my column from March:
Rex Chapman walked onto the Rupp Arena court, where filmmaker Christopher Hunt awaited.
