David Glidden has long believed in cost-of-attendance stipends for college athletes.
He just didn't call them that.
Tasked several times to write papers for classes, the Oklahoma State receiver chose to focus on whether athletes should receive more than Pell Grants and need-based scholarships. He saw a lot of teammates who spent that money wisely but still had very little to nothing in their pockets at the end of each month.
He felt like they needed something more.
"I'm not saying college athletes should be paid abundances of money," he said, "but I think there are times when it gets overlooked, some of the things that go on and the struggles that do happen for a lot of guys.
