MUSTANG — David Glidden wasn't looking to become a football coach when Mustang's Jeremy Dombek offered him a spot as a volunteer assistant two seasons ago.
Glidden wasn't looking to jump to college coaching when Memphis offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham began to pursue him a few weeks ago.
Yet here he is, less than 18 months removed from the end of his football career, having gone from a player hoping for a phone call from an NFL team, to volunteer coach at Mustang, to full-time coach and teacher, to a college assistant at Memphis.
Glidden was officially hired as an offensive quality control coach for Tigers coach Mike Norvell — who, in another odd twist, was coaching at Tulsa and recruited Glidden when he was a star at Mustang.
