As the halftime buzzer sounded in Gallagher-Iba Arena, Erica Ogwumike’s close-range jumper fell through the net.
It was just two points, but it was a welcome sight for the Rice women’s basketball team. It was the Owls’ first two points in over seven minutes and doubled their second quarter scoring.
With 1:19 left in the first quarter, Rice’s Destiny Jackson had hit a jumper to give the Owls a 17-12 lead on the road against the Oklahoma State women’s basketball team.
In the time between Jackson and Ogwumike’s shots, the Cowgirls outscored the Owls 30-2.
No single Cowgirl took over as OSUoutscored Rice 27-4 in the second quarter.
