For the first three quarters, Ja’Mee Asberry and the Oklahoma State women’s basketball team outplayed the top team in the nation.
A strong fourth quarter from visiting No. 1 Baylor, though, willed it to a 65-58 victory Wednesday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Jim Littell, OSU’s coach, saw his unranked Cowgirls rattle the Lady Bears early and often but it was not enough.
“I thought our kids really competed hard and hooked it up,” Littell said. “We gave ourselves an opportunity.”
Ja’Mee Asberry had 22 points and six 3-pointers for the Cowgirls (12-7 overall, 3-5 Big 12), both of which were career highs with all coming in the first three frames.
