Despite two shot clock turnovers in the last minute in a close contest, Oklahoma State held off a tough Fairfield team with a 64-62 win at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday afternoon.
OSU head coach Jacie Hoyt knew a strong start against the Stags (1-2) was paramount, and her team came out firing, shooting 8 of 13 (61.5%) from the field and jumping out to a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
"Fairfield was coming off of a loss that was very uncharacteristic for them, and we knew that they were going to come out swinging and we weren’t going to be the team to take the first punch," Hoyt said.
