Cowgirls drop defending champions in first game of Super Regional

The Oklahoma State softball team had five days to prepare for its series against Florida State, the defending national champions.

The last time the Cowgirls completed in the Super Regionals was in 2011.

On Thursday, The Cowgirls overcame a one-run deficit and defeated the Seminoles 3-1 in extra innings in Tallahassee, Florida.

OSU's bats suffered in the first few innings. As FSU contributed four hits, OSU failed to get one.

The Cowgirls fell behind 0-1 after freshman Makinzy Herzog hit a single, giving No. 4 FSU the lead.

Luckily for No. 13 OSU, it was the only run the Seminoles (54-9) scored.
