The Cowgirls began their quest for a Big 12 title against the Baylor Bears in what OSU soccer coach Colin Carmichael could only describe as “ugly,” a 1-0 overtime loss.
The game was physical. There were more than 30 fouls combined between the two Big 12 championship contenders. Baylor’s size at every position on the field proved to trouble the smaller, finesse-based Cowgirl lineup.
“All over the field, they have big ball-winners,” Carmichael said.
The OSU defense held up well against the Baylor bruisers, sending the game into overtime scoreless. However, in the 94th minute, the Bears broke through and ended it.
