A Big 12 title was clinched deep in the heart of Texas.

The No. 22 Oklahoma State soccer team won the 2017 regular season Big 12 championship with a 1-0 overtime win against No. 8 Texas on Friday in Austin.

Senior Laurene Tresfield’s header in the 100th minute sealed the deal for the Cowgirls, who finished the regular season 15-2-2 and 8-1 in conference and won their first conference title since 2011.

Anna Beffer, also a senior, picked up the assist as she sent the corner kick that found Tresfield in the box.

The play practically happened in slow motion as the ball ricocheted off a Texas defender, hit the back of Tresfield’s head and looped toward the Longhorns’ goal where another Texas defender tried to clear it off the line but instead hit it back into the goal.
