Prior to the fourth preseason game, I thought I had it all figured out in regards to the Cowboys’ fourth runningback. Gus Johnson had shown enough over the first three preseason games and I had heard enough buzz about him from training camp to be relatively convinced that he was the runningback the Cowboys would try to retain behind Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, and Lance Dunbar.
Johnson didn’t do anything to dispel those feelings on Thursday night, capped off by a powerful 21-yard run where he broke multiple tackles and trucked through a couple defenders on his way toward the Cowboys’ first offensive touchdown of the night.
