Cowboys earn first win of 2017 behind Elliott, Rosa

Despite a late scare, the Oklahoma State baseball team earned its first win of the 2017 season Sunday, beating Grand Canyon 6-5 in Phoenix.

Sophomore right-hander Jensen Elliott (1-0) controlled the game early, holding GCU to three hits in 6 1/3 shutout innings, striking out seven.

The Cowboys (1-1) scored five runs from the sixth to eighth innings, extending a 1-0 lead to a six-run advantage.

Second baseman Andrew Rosa gave OSU an early lead with a ground-rule double in the second, scoring Dustin Williams. Rosa added another RBI double in the sixth, driving in Colin Simpson.
