Cowboys add Kontaxis to coaching staff

Mike Boynton, Oklahoma State’s men’s basketball coach, added David Kontaxis to his staff Monday.

Kontaxis spent the 2016-17 season at James Madison University as an assistant, where the Dukes went 10-23. Kontaxis, along with fellow assistant Mike Deane, was suspended for two games last season. The Harrisonburg Daily News-Record reported “the issue was not related to any legal troubles or NCAA violations.”

Before his one season at JMU, Kontaxis spent seven years coaching AAU teams in the Washington D.C., North Carolina and Virginia areas.

Kontaxis played basketball at Montgomery College-Germantown from 1995-97, where he also earned his associate’s degree before receiving his bachelor’s degree from South Florida and his master’s from John Hopkins.
