Mike Boynton can picture the mostly flat, expansive landscape that surrounded him as he traveled about 400 miles north to visit a recruit.
“I actually know exactly what the drive from Stillwater to Lincoln, Nebraska, looks like," Boynton said. "It’s not necessarily the prettiest drive, but it’s a pretty straight drive, actually, so it wasn’t that bad.”
He made the trip so he could visit Donovan Williams, a shooting guard at North Star High School and a now-member of the Oklahoma State men’s basketball team’s highly touted 2020 signing class. Taking the time to bond with Williams and his family paid off for Boynton, the Cowboy basketball coach, but Boynton wasn’t always sure Williams would pick OSU.
