Cowboy basketball: Defense lacked 'bite' in loss to Kansas

The OSU defense gave up a season-high 87 points and struggled to slow down guard Gradey Dick in an 87-76 loss against No. 5 Kansas in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday night.

Kansas inbounded the ball with six seconds left until halftime, and guard Kevin McCullar pushed the ball up the court and drew OSU coverage, leaving Dick unattended in the corner. The miscommunication gave Dick an open 3, which splashed at the buzzer and eliminated OSU’s lead.

“It wasn’t very good. I mean, I’m not an excuse maker,” coach Mike Boynton said. “...Our defense didn’t have the bite today that it’s had most of the season.
