Courtney Dike has seen her name on Nigeria’s final roster for the World Cup. She has trained with the team for nearly a month. She has worn the green jersey and played in warm-up matches and tried to wrap her head around what is happening.
But the whole thing doesn’t seem real.
“It still kind of feels like a dream,” she said on the eve of this weekend’s World Cup openers, “but I am ready for it to be real.”
Come Monday, it will be.
That’s when Nigeria opens play in the World Cup against Sweden and the dream becomes reality for the Edmond North alum and Oklahoma State standout.
